Family holidays in Australia

Family holidays in Australia

A family that holidays together, stays together! This is what Australia tourism believes in as they launch their new campaign called ‘There’s nothing like Australia for family holidays’. With sun-kissed seas and bays brimming with dolphins, whales, turtles, coral and tropical fish there are a host of ways to get up close and personal with aquatic life on the Great Barrier Reef. You with your children can hand feed the fish on Ned’s Beach on Lord Howe Island or watch turtles nesting and tiny hatchlings make their way to the safety of the water. Australia delivers a phenomenal range and depth of family holidays that include intimate encounters with unique wildlife, adventure in a stunning array of wilderness environments, authentic indigenous experiences that offer insights into the world’s oldest living culture, a whole host of family learning opportunities not to mention some good old fashioned family fun. Enter a world where you can free fall six metres and throw a ball that seems to curve in Side Show at Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre.

Questacon also has its own brand of science theatre which allows you to sit back and watch crashes and explosions as you enjoy the live science demonstrations. Or check out real moon rocks, marvel at the largest communications dishes in the Southern Hemisphere and a replica of the Mars Rover at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex. Learn all about how the Complex has played a key role in the exploration of space as part of NASA’s Deep Space Network. Explore the interactive exhibits at the National Museum of Australia. See objects such as Greg Chappell’s cricket cap, Captain Cook’s magnifier, Phar Lap’s heart and a preserved thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger). Create a city of the future and see it come to life at the 3D theatre – Kspace. Take your pick!
